Come Away

Come away, they said,
come away from the flames.
The fire is hot,
you'll burn yourself up.
Don't stand so close, come away!

Come away, they said,
come away from the sea.
The water is deep,
you'll fall in and drown.
Don't play on the shore, come away!

Come away, they said,
come away from the earth.
You'll be buried alive,
lost in the pit.
Don't stand on the edge, come away!

Come away, they said,
come away from the storm.
You'll be swept away,
Better run, better hide.
Don't stand out there, come away!

Inside the fire,
I'm naked to Self.
Phoenix arises,
ego burns clear.

Flow healing water,
dissolve my illusions,
wash me transparent
to see who I Am.

Close to the earth,
I till holy ground,
fertile Self blossoms
in toward the Light.

Riding the tempest,
doubt blows away.
I breathe a new world
from the I of the storm.

Come away, they said.
Don't stand so close.
But I did

kiss the flame,
ride the storm,
wed the earth,
walk the sea.

Burnt …I am pure.
Blown clear…I fly free.
Buried…I rise.
Cleansed…I Am Me.
